11 European Players Join Joint Training Camp in Gangneung

Gangneung, South Korea - 11 European players are participating in a joint training camp lasting more than 10 days organized by the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU). This is an expansion of the Asia-Europe exchange program, marking a development step from exchanges limited to Korea to multi-association cooperation. The European players will train alongside national teams from Korea, Japan, and Chinese Taipei, gaining access to the high-level playing styles of the Asian region. The training camp includes friendly matches on September 5 and 8, helping European players adapt to rhythm, footwork, and the three-first-shot structures of Asian teams. After the camp, players will move to Gangneung to participate in the WTT Youth Contender - an important youth ranking event. The program does not award ranking points but focuses on skill development and cultural exchange. ETTU Vice President emphasized the quality of practice and cultural value in this activity. According to him, the training camp is designed as a foundation for European players, helping them adapt to diverse competitive environments. This is the second cycle of the program, starting from Jeju Island then to Havířov, and now expanding to Gangneung. The European players belong to the young development group and may use the WTT Youth Contender to accumulate youth points.
